Enhanced Crashworthiness and Higher Compatibility.
Led by CTAG (Automotive Technology Centre of Galicia, Spain) as general coordinator and the University of Northumbria at Newcastle (United Kingdom) as scientific coordinator, SALIENT is a 3-year project funded by the EU's Horizon Europe Programme that spans from September 2022 to August 2023.
SALIENT aims to propose and validate light-weight vehicle designs with a safer and more sustainable lifespan. The project will design new vehicles with a significantly reduced weight (max. 196kg), energy consumption (-1.84 kWh/100km) and CO2 emissions (max 790g/100km). The costs and energy required for vehicle production will be rendered more economical and sustainable as well: cost for raw materials to be reduced by up to a 22% and time for manufacturing and scrap rates by up to a 20%.
Within a 13-partner consortium from 7 countries, our company is responsible for:
Defining accident and crash configurations of future vehicles in mixed traffic scenarios.
Exploring economies of scale for mass production of the prototypes developed.
Market acceleration and business modelling of the project results.
Communicating & disseminating the project results.
